From January 1 through July 31, 5,688 donors and their families selflessly gave the gift of sight. 6,653 tissues were provided for sight-restoring transplants and 1,856 tissues helped to advance vision research and support clinical education and training.

With support from Eversight’s global aid program, Abu-Bakar Zafar, MD performed 10 sight-restoring corneal transplants and trained local surgeons, leaving a lasting impact not only on the patients he treated, but on himself as a surgeon, teacher and human being.
Ben was joyful, brilliant and driven—a passionate drummer, devoted brother, and deep thinker whose warmth and humor made others feel truly seen. Though his life was tragically cut short at age 20 by a brain aneurysm, his legacy lives on through the gift of corneal donation.
